R7 News

Hi all,

The Region 7 Communications Office is beginning the process of moving all current members of our GoogleGroups email discussion lists to a new provider. The current system on GoogleGroups has been experiencing delivery issues for some time, especially with AOL addresses. The new discussion list hosted on DreamHost will give us greater reliability and full control over our communications.

Over the next week or so, we will begin the transition starting with the Region 7 Staff email list (R7Staff). Each member of that list will receive an email from me inviting you to join the new discussion list. To be added, please follow the instructions in the email to “Opt In”. Once I receive your acceptance email, you will be added to the new discussion list. You will then receive an automated welcome message with additional information and instructions for posting.

If you do not wish to participate, you may simply ignore the invitation or reply declining it.

If you do NOT receive the email inviting you to join the new discussion list please check your spam folder.

After the R7 Staff list has been successfully transferred, we will next move on to the R7 CO/XO list and finally the R7 general discussion list (R7_List).

Thank you for your patience during this transition. Moving to the new discussion list will ensure better message delivery and provide a more reliable communication platform for all of us.

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

LL&P,
VAdm Mary Ann González
Region 7 Chief Communications Officer
USS Adamant NCC-3029, Commanding Officer

Dear 7th Fleet,

The Grammys, the Golden Globes and the Oscars are memorable award shows but award season wouldn’t be complete without the R7 Awards.

Last Friday, the R7 Awards Review & Update Committee met via Zoom and our Region 7 Awards Director Keith Shikowitz will soon be sending out information to all chapter COs concerning the updates and soliciting for judges for this year’s award program. I’d like to thank Keith for his work and the committee for their input and ideas. It was a very informative and thoughtful session taking in structure of the past and applying some new ideas to freshen up the process.

As the award season will soon commence, I ask that all COs/XOs and command staff of the 7th Fleet start considering who you wish to nominate for the specific awards categories most of which go forward for consideration by the STARFLEET awards program at that level. Keith said he will be sending out that info via email to all ships very soon so watch for it.

Please pay attention to the deadlines listed as we need your participation. Watch for future posts here and on our regional listservs sending out information to all chapter COs concerning the updates and soliciting for judges for this year’s award program.

Sincerely,
Adm. Bob Vosseller
Region 7 Coordinator
CO USS Challenger NCC-1676-D
