Hi 7th Fleet,
Well we are heading warp speed ahead toward summer as we travel through the month of May having enjoyed Free Comic Book Day, Cinco De Mayo and if the 4th Be We With You didn’t give you enough Star Wars fun many chapters are seeing the Star Wars movie “The Mandalorian & Grogu” this Memorial Day weekend or later in the month.
As we head towards the summer season with chapter barbeques, cons like Philly Fan Expo, Trek Long Island and Shore Leave don’t forget to bookmark this year’s Region 7 Conference to be held within the Maryland Sector on the weekend of October 16-18 on your calendar.
I attended the latest STARFLEET Admiralty Board meeting on Saturday afternoon which noted this year’s STARFLEET Virtual International Conference (VIC), information of which has been posted to the Region 7 Facebook page. Our CS Ryan Case also spoke to us about the steps being taken to restore our STARFLEET website which has been down for several weeks along with our webmail account.
Rest assured the STARFLEET technical team is working to get what went down, up again as quickly as they can but this is meticulous work that has to be completed in phases. It will be accomplished and it will be back up and running in due time. More details about STARFLEET news from that meeting will be relayed to Region 7 COs/XOs rather than here due to length reasons.
COs/XOs can file your chapter MSRs via the db.sfi.org link that will bring you to the STARFLEET Database should the SFI website still be down by filing time which is the beginning of next month. You can also make any rank adjustments or other changes including checking any pending expiration dates of members on your chapter roster.
In reviewing our MSR reports this month it shows that we remain a very active chapter with plans being made for a variety of events including movie trips, conventions, smaller shows and ship picnics/barbeques during the months of June, July and August. Watch for the details of those events that will appear on our regional website and on our Region 7 Facebook page and on our lists.
Many chapters are making plans for a designated STAR TREK 60th Anniversary event which is great to see. Feel free to post details of what your chapter is doing on the Region 7 Facebook page.
The winners of the Region 7 Annual Awards for this year will be announced during the annual Region 7 Meeting being held at Shore Leave in July. The STARFLEET Annual Awards will be announced during the VIC in August.
Thanks go out to the Region 7 Communications Office for transitioning us to our new listserv system which should prove more reliable than the prior one.
There will be a CO/XO Zoom meeting in June (date to be announced) and among the topics discussed will be your chapter and the community, how your chapter works and promotes itself as part of the community. For those COs/XOs who have a topic they feel would be helpful to add to the agenda, please email me.
Those chapters observing milestone anniversaries this year, (5,10,15, 20, 25, 30, 35) please alert VRC Wayne Augustson so that award certificates can be prepared and some presented during the Shore Leave Region 7 Meeting and the Region 7 Conference opening ceremonies meeting while others will be emailed to you.
