Dear 7th Fleet,

It is with great sadness that I report on the passing of former USS Malverne commanding officer ADM Tony Rowley, who also served as one of my VRCs when I served as Regional Coordinator in the 1990s. Tony had also served as R7 Chief of Staff and was part of Mike Smith’s staff when he was CS.

Tony died in a fire on Saturday from smoke inhalation and his wife is currently in the hospital. His child Max escaped the fire. We pray for his family. Many long time R7 & STARFLEET members, remember Tony and his work for the organization … the many fun times we shared at ICs, R7 Conferences, conventions and other regional activities. His untimely death was shocking to learn and I spoke to many people who knew him last night.

This is one of the articles concerning the fire. Complete details were not yet available. At least 1 dead, 7 injured, including firefighter, in Drexel Hill apartment fire – CBS Philadelphia

Tony was involved with the fire department for many years. He was also active with the Civil Air Patrol. He will definitely be missed.

Sincerely,
ADM Bob Vosseller

Message from SFI Information Services (incoming) Chief Jayden Tyronian …

The Information Services (IS) department is undergoing a foundational strategic renewal, seeking highly skilled and professional volunteers to fill critical leadership and technical roles. These positions are foundational to the security and operational stability of STARFLEET’s systems. We are actively seeking applications for all areas of our department. Applications close 20 December 2025 (US EST).

The full list is available on the Volunteer Resources website https://vr.sfi.org.
Question can be sent to me.

Thank you so much for your help.
Jayden Tyronian
Chief of Information Services – Incoming

Hi 7th Fleet Leaders,

Just a reminder for those seeking or submitting flag rank promotions, you need to fill out the promotion form at sfi.org in the award/promotions section. They do require an RC letter of endorsement to be attached with the form when you send it in, so you can send me the promotion request information for me to review and if approved, I can send you the letter of endorsement so it can be included with the form when you send it in to the Promotion Office.

There are some background questions within the form that you will have to fill out for the officer being nominated. Should you have any questions, you can reach out to the SF Promotions representative whose e-mail is available in the same area where you can find the promotion form.

You must also only include information that followed the member’s last promotion as that is what is being considered. A member’s Starfleet level work and Regional level work is reviewed closely in consideration for an additional pip by the SF Promotions Office.

There seems to be some confusion about the process. The nominator fills out the promotion form that requires information about the nominees service record, SF Academy courses etc. As RC I send you the letter of endorsement which I first need to review with the nominee’s service work since their last promotion.

Thank you and Happy Holidays!
